Volunteer
I have been volunteering with Blind Spot every week since my retirement in early 2018. The only thing I knew I wanted to do once I retired was volunteer with animals. I had never been around farm animals before but always wanted to be so I was very excited when I found them. This is by far the most rewarding thing I have ever done. The work is hard but it is so much fun! I spent my entire career behind a desk and now I get fresh air, exercise, and lots and lots of cuddles with all types of animals. The animals all have their own personalities and it is so interesting to watch how they interact with each other. Some of them have been through so much at the hands of humans and yet they trust us. It takes some of them a while but once they know we are there for them and not to hurt them, it is amazing to watch their transformation. I have learned so much and continue to learn new things all the time. The number one reason I am there is for the animals, but the people are pretty great too!
