First off, let me say I absolutely love and adore pigs and have all of my life (really all animals, but especially pigs). My nickname growing up was Piggy Rose. I volunteer at Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary because I want to give my time to something I believe in. I knew I wanted to work with animals and originally I had put in a request to volunteer at North Carolina tiger rescue, then one day I saw a post on Facebook for Blind Spot. Instantly I knew that I could never volunteer at the tiger rescue knowing that there was a sanctuary that had so many pigs and other animals, of course. I have a lot of time on my hands, I collect social security disability. While I leave the sanctuary in horrible pain and can’t do anything for the rest of the day, I feel very good about my choice to go there once a week to help out, even if I’m having a really bad day and just pick up poop all day. I might be in pain but I am one of the happiest people… Because I just spent my time with all these wonderful animals. It’s a very rewarding feeling.
